Let’s Talk Hook Up/Cass Tours Lake El Salto

Feb. 9 to 13, 2019

Well folks we just returned from our 3rd annual trip to Bill Chapman Sr’s Lake El Salto Lodge two hours north of the beautiful Mexican beach city of Mazatlan and two hours south of the agricultural city of Culican. Joining me on the trip was Rock Cod Rick Maxa co-host of the radio show Let’s Talk Hook Up and 16 other great anglers. On the trip were Dr. Michael Clayton and son Chris; Mark Kern and son Zachery; Dr. & Mrs. Steve  Goodman, Gary Vawter; Steve Pinard; Jo Barcimo; Basil Dedman; Inkyoo Chang; Dr. Bob Blum; Dr. Victor Chao; Dr. Larry Ordono; Mark Foster & Mike Gruhn.

Fourteen of us took advantage of the great low airfares on Volaris Airlines from Tijuana to Culican with the other four flying on Alaska Airlines into Mazatlan. Our transfer service were waiting for us and we were quickly in our van’s heading to the lodge. As usual on our arrival the folks at the lodge were waiting for us giving us a nice bienvenidos (welcome) and as in the past provided us with their great service and hospitality making sure our margarita glasses were full and the beer ice cold.

The following morning after breakfast we headed down to the lake to meet our guides and start our first of 3 1/2 days of fishing. The first day saw most boats catching from 40 to 80 large mouth bass all on a variety of lures such as Senko’s, Lizards, crank baits, swim baits and rattle traps. On a normal fishing day you fish from 6:00am to 11:00am, return

for a hot lunch, take a siesta and be back on the water at 1:30pm fishing until 6:00pm.

Over the 3 1/2 days of fishing we had some great bass fishing with some boats having 1

00 plus fish days and on the average 40 to 80 fish days. Biggest fish for the trip were a couple of 8 pound fish with quite a few 4 to 7pound fish.

This Lake El Salto is incredible not only for the quality of the large mouth bass but the numbers, lots and lots of hook ups each day. Wether your a seasoned bass fishermen or a novice you will have a blast on the number of bass you catch each day.

The cost for this fabulous bass catching trip is $1825.00 per person and includes round  trip ground transfers from either Culican or Mazatlan airports, 4 nights lodging including all your meals, 3 1/2 days of guided fishing, unlimited margaritas, beer, bottled water and sodas and all taxes, airfare is extra. If you are interested in joining myself and Pete Gray of Let’s Talk Hook Up next year our dates are set for Feb. 25 to 29, 2020, to book a spot or for more information you can me at 951415 2505 or via email at, I can’t wait for next year’s trip…..Cass
